The Youngsters

Eric and Pauline were recruited after the first SJDT thanks to their children - Duncan & Laura who later became Service Crew members along with their respective spouses.

How times change

When we look back at our early SJDTs and the photographs taken Duncan & Laura where at St. James' Primary School and quite tiny. Laura has been a fairy helping Father Christmas on one November Day Tripper when she was into ballet.

Nowadays it depends what is happening but Duncan and his wife Lisa are part of the Service Crew and have had a son - Joseph and a daughter - Bethany. Sadly the decision to stop running the SJDT charter trains means they will not experience the joy of lugging a full bag of rubbish along a 13 coach train!

Responsibilities Eric, ever since his involvement in the first SJDT, was always responsible for looking after the on-board raffle later called the Super Draw. Boiling water very early in the morning along with other Committee males is another of Eric's responsibilities.

Pauline was happy to be classified as a trolley dolly looking after at-seat refreshment provision. She also arranged the supply of sandwiches for the trollies.
