Charity fund raising on the move!
The St. James' Day Tripper (SJDT) ran between 1987 and 2006. It became something of an institution in Lancashire and beyond.
The idea was to raise funds for St. James' Church, Blackburn. St. James Day Tripper has worked but eventually grew into something even BIGGER!
The train headboard seen above now has pride of place in the Church Lounge. It was made soon after the SJDT began so hasn't travelled every mile. It has been on the front (and sometimes the rear) of almost every class of diesel passenger locomotive in the UK and two steam locomotives. Now it will be getting a little bit of tender, loving care including a repaint to see it through its retirement. After the last SJDT it was ceremonially paraded from the front of Church to its final resting place in the Church Lounge.
