Where did we go?

Our policy was to travel for 4 or 5 hours. Have 4 or 5 hours at our final destination and then come back. Usually we endeavoured to go to 2 destinations. Early SJDTs were arranged so that travel between the two destinations could be had at no extra cost.

There were exceptions to our policy. We were always in the hands of the network management when it came to finding a path for our charter train to take. During the West Coast Mainline upgrade 1998 - 2006 we avoided going down the Mainline if at all possible.

When we employed steam traction the distances covered were much reduced as was the available destinations. Below is a table showing where we went and behind which locomotives. Thanks to those Day Trippers that help to fill the gaps in the early years.
