Cash & Carry set

Someone had to get all the cans, biscuits , chocolate, drinks and stuff together. This task befell the Rishtons possibly because they had at the time the greatest loft space to store the stuff.

More offspring help

Julian has been a member of the Service Crew since I can't remember and eventually involved his girlfriend Marie who became his wife in late 2005. On one SJDT it happened to be going to where a specialist car parts shop could supply seats for the Catram he was building. It was Oxford if memory serves. We came back with 2 car seats in the Buffet Car which doubled as rocking chairs for small children.

Lisa got married to Jake and moved to Ulverston and now has a small family which is absolutely NO excuse for not being part of the Service Crew. The family can normally be seen at the Buffet.

Responsibilities Ken was responsible for looking out of the train windows to ensure the Day Trippers were getting value for money as far as views were concerned. He was also head trolley gopher and was transport driver for the Cash & Carry runs. Boiling water very early in the morning was another of Ken's responsibilities.

Meryl looked after the acquisition of food for the at-seat refreshment provision and acted as trolley dolly. She had loads of notebooks which told us how many sandwiches and pies we had on every one of the SJDT. Do you think this information helped us plan the catering on future SJDTs. Absolutely NOT!
