Flowers in Spring
The main attraction at Spalding was the Spalding Flower Festival which has been held annually since 1959. The main parade had a "Myths & Legends" theme. For others the images lower down tell a different story.
The train managed against the odds to make good time and we arrived in Spalding on time to a reception Committee of a few hundred people. The weather was fair though when the sun went indoors it was cool.
Some people travelled to the City of Peterborough and here the weather was very spring-like. They have a local paper called The Evening Telegraph so we were informed. The newly named locomotive attracted a number of extra passengers from Spalding to Peterborough.
The return journey was noteworthy only because we kept better than scheduled time and were held at signals on a number of occasions. The sunset on 4 May was spectacular.
